It’s springtime in California, and we are excited for the growth that is happening here at Utt Construction! We are grateful to be in a thriving industry that has continued to expand this year, and excited that our company is growing with it. Despite many challenges that have come our way (read our Covid-19 Challenges blog here), Utt Construction has continued to work on incredible projects. 

As our company expands and acquires more projects, we are pleased to announce that we are hiring! We are seeking a couple of Job Site Superintendents and some more Journeymen Carpenters to join our team.

Superintendents:

Description and Responsibilities

A superintendent’s primary role is to oversee job site operations and manage a carpentry team, including project progress, on-site coordination, and resource allocation. The superintendent will adhere to project plans and specifications, collaborate and communicate regularly with project managers, and deal with client interactions on-site.

Requirements

  • 10 years of working experience in the carpentry field

  • Working, up-to-date knowledge of other construction trades

  • Experience working on high-end residential projects and commercial properties

  • Eagerness and willingness to learn new protocols

  • Superb communication - verbal, phone, email, written logs

  • Professionalism in all situations

  • Customer service techniques to manage client communication and interaction

  • Organizational skills - must be good with keeping job paperwork in order

  • Commitment to the highest standards of quality and attention to detail

  • Must be able to multitask and still wear bags and tools to get work done. As the head carpenter on projects, the Superintendent should continuously lead by example. 

Journeymen Carpenters:

Description and Responsibilities

A Journeyman Carpenter's primary role is to accurately interpret construction drawings and specifications, executing the work accordingly (ex: door, frame & hardware schedule, millwork details, elevations, details, etc.). Each Journeyman Carpenter will work alongside the team of  Apprentice or Mid-level Carpenters to efficiently perform the work necessary while meeting the highest standards of quality and following appropriate and safe procedures.

Requirements

  • 4-10 years experience working as a carpenter, ideally on high-end residential projects, with well-rounded rough and finish skills.

  • Eagerness and willingness to learn 

  • Competent and comfortable following protocols and direction 

  • Strong working knowledge of job site safety is key, and not taking shortcuts to get work done

  • Strong communication - verbal, phone, email, written logs

  • High standard of integrity and professionalism
